This project at the heart of the Outer Sunset neighborhood seeks to reuse Francis Scott Key Annex, a San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) currently underutilized site as a community resource for recreation. The project is a partnership between the Friends of Playland at 43rd Avenue, San Francisco Parks Alliance, SFUSD and Pavement to Parks, a City and County of San Francisco inter-agency program that seeks to test the possibilities of underused areas of land by quickly and inexpensively converting them into new public spaces for communities citywide. The Francis Scott Key Annex site is an empty asphalt lot of approximately 1.25 acres. The site is not actively used by children or faculty -its building is being used for office and archiving purposes. The Outer Sunset’s community members will temporarily test new ideas to transform this site into an inclusive new space for families, youth and seniors. The new Playland site will offer opportunities for gardening, gathering with neighbors every day or at special events, and it will include a wide variety of play opportunities. https://riopleasehelp.us/Road-Runner-Mural Tue, 11 Apr 2017 15:53:04 +0000 Rio Please Help https://riopleasehelp.us/Road-Runner-Mural <img width="5000" height="3312" width_o="5000" height_o="3312" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/5acc66977b0af4642ac999cda78e3894a019272425a85d9ff179907653601503/RoadRunnerMural_o.jpg" data-mid="36933331" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/5acc66977b0af4642ac999cda78e3894a019272425a85d9ff179907653601503/RoadRunnerMural_o.jpg" /> <img width="5000" height="3333" width_o="5000" height_o="3333" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/627540cfd80c53df9491be50a1e1673e1e1d204a4cd2001aed1604aeb34b92d8/rr3_o.jpg" data-mid="36933327" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/627540cfd80c53df9491be50a1e1673e1e1d204a4cd2001aed1604aeb34b92d8/rr3_o.jpg" /> <img width="5000" height="3333" width_o="5000" height_o="3333" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/11c56b4ac9592eebf62081ef5b3c733018e3ad26cad7056cb396d267824be9af/rr4_o.jpg" data-mid="36933328" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/11c56b4ac9592eebf62081ef5b3c733018e3ad26cad7056cb396d267824be9af/rr4_o.jpg" /> <img width="5000" height="3333" width_o="5000" height_o="3333" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/4badadbb00c56999172d1a68f5a2220b5c79915de957c3d7858b7fe2d133406d/rr2_o.jpg" data-mid="36933332" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/4badadbb00c56999172d1a68f5a2220b5c79915de957c3d7858b7fe2d133406d/rr2_o.jpg" /> <img width="4096" height="3064" width_o="4096" height_o="3064" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/bd4321b39c647bf2f888bb9a6d227bdb492cf9a5e1ed08b68c8674c45bb3f108/rr5.jpg" data-mid="36933329" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/bd4321b39c647bf2f888bb9a6d227bdb492cf9a5e1ed08b68c8674c45bb3f108/rr5.jpg" /> <img width="2250" height="3000" width_o="2250" height_o="3000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/64440b4835f3d66de032765bbfbc67dd62aeccdd6c4f2a82c34803f4d7785e74/rr6.jpg" data-mid="36933330" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/64440b4835f3d66de032765bbfbc67dd62aeccdd6c4f2a82c34803f4d7785e74/rr6.jpg" /> Road Runner Acrylic &amp; Gold Leaf Hand painted mural for Road Runner Bags, commissioned for the entire back wall of their Los Angeles anchor store. The painting premiered at the art show Suffer for Triumph at Mission Workshop, curated by myself and Heather Mckinnon. An all girls art show Including artists Emily Clayton, Alexandra Petroff, and Pamela Palma. SUFFER FOR TRIUMPH Through suffering, comes triumph. Through the pain, the climbs, the breathing, and the struggle of pushing your body and mind beyond unimaginable limits, will come the reward. That view atop Mt Tam, that's your triumph. Or the glory of completing your first century with your own two legs, that's your triumph. Suffer for Triumph is a body of work from a group of women who endure and persist through cycling, through work, through life. We don’t expect to be understood, we don’t expect empathy, we don’t expect it to be easy. Like the climb up Summit Road, you are the only way to the top. As women there will always be a little more struggle, a little extra pushing necessary, and we express that in our art. Rip apart realities, challenge perceptions, expectations are for the timid, ladies. Skin your knee and race your friends. Don't be afraid to suffer. And always always always celebrate each others triumphs, we didn’t need help getting here.
